Focus on the Transversality of Oblique Powers in the Context of a Brazilian Musical Genre – The Choro – By Making the National and the global Interact in the Contemporary Scenario

The consolidated postmodern scenario has been characterized by a great accentuation of interpersonal and media cultural encounters and by a contemporary capitalist scenario where local cultural goods have functioned as driving forces of consumption in a global space (Harvey 2013). Hence the question arose: how has the interaction of the traditional, the national and the global been happening today in the context of crreation, production and circulation of the choro musical genre in Brasília, na important center of cultivation of the genre in Brazil, considered there one of the symbols of national? Based on Canclini (2011), who considers that the forces that come into conflict, juxtaposition or negociation in the processes of cultural interaction reveal the transversality of oblique powers and the observation by Nicolau Netto (2009) that the strenght of the nation the meanings it incorporates are negociated there, a foundation that was combined whith data collected in musical analysis and the exploration of oral and media sources, this work managed to fulfill the objective of verifying the processes of cultural interaction related to the works of two musicians from Brasilia: Choro do Portina by Hamilton de Holanda and Um chorinho em Cochabamba by Rogério Caetano and Eduardo Neves.
