Abstract

This study aimed to delimit the intermedia crossings in works that present an innovative conception of opera based on post-dramatic theater: postopera. In Philip Glass's opera O Corvo Branco (1991) there are, through the appearance of characters from cinema and the impure mixture of excerpts from the Lusíadas with texts from other formats, signs of intermediality. Destino das Oito (2004), by Chico Mello, presents intermediality in its very genesis, as it is based on the play Heart's Desire (1997). Finally, Liquid Voices (2017) is based on a script written for the cinema by the composer herself, also presenting intermediality from its conception. As secondary objectives, characteristics of these works were highlighted by the Aesthetics of Impurity, unveiling intertextuality through a parodic approach. All things considered; one can conclude that these two postoperas by Brazilian composers present intermediality in a more incisive fashion.
