Report and review: 21st MusiMid Conference

An ideal setting for academic exchange and updating.

Abstract

This brief chronicle describes and narrates the experience of attending the 21st Musimid Meeting in the city of Santos (SP). It was a special opportunity to reflect on the role of music in contemporary society, which Byung-Chul Han describes as the "Society of Fatigue." The event proved to be not only an agora for discussing Han's philosophical precepts but also a space for socializing, learning, and enjoyment, thanks to the presence of prominent speakers and a remarkable number of musical performances. This event, like the one held last year (2024) at the Coffee Museum, which I was fortunate enough to attend, once again demonstrated its importance as a vital forum for discussions of contemporary relevance in the fields of communication and musicology.
