Gilberto Mendes: indeterminacy experiencies in the new music

Abstract

This paper aims to show Gilberto Mendes as one of the participants of the “new music” group in São Paulo and a composer that have signed their manifest in 1963. It sintetized how the contact of the group in Darmstadt (Germany) with the new branches of musical thought resulted in the experiences like the use of indeterminacy and present how was the first audition of two musical pieces. It is based in bibliography, reports and others, hoping that it will bring a contribution to know historic events of the twentieth- century music in Brazil.
